About Us

EBIAC was established by the local community in June 2000 to address the unmet need for independent advice services in the area. Our vision is of a just, healthy, thriving community. Our Mission is to provide a free, independent confidential advice, information and representation service, accessible to all. We provide high quality and accessible advice on social security, housing, employment, debt and the EU Settlement Scheme (up to 30th June 2021) delivered by a qualified team.

Our strategic aims for 2019-2022 are to:

1) Develop and provide quality user led services to meet need

2) Inform, challenge and influence social policy

3) Sustain and develop EBIAC

We deliver Core Services and Specialist Services. Core services are Drop-in advice clinics and appointments from our offices four times per week offering maximum accessibility and sees on average 30 people per day.

Our drop-in services have been impacted by the Covid-19 crisis however, as arrangements progress we are confident that we will be able to provide appropriate and safe face to face services. We deliver Outreach advice clinics in a number of community locations and telephone and email advice. We provide home visits for those who are housebound, again impacted by the Covid-19 crisis but we are confident that we will be able to implement safe working conditions to restart this service. In order to support our particularly vulnerable people access their rights and entitlements, we provide specialist services of Representation at Social Security Tribunals and outreach working in community and hospital settings. Our services are underpinned by our Volunteering opportunities with accredited qualifications and work experience in advice, administration and reception.

We work in partnership with community and statutory services, provide information sessions on Benefits and Welfare Reform and contribute to Social Policy issues reflecting the lived experience of our clients.
